Curbing Carbon Pollution: LEDs from an Unlikely Source

Using Carbon Emissions with LED Lighting

Global warming. We’ve all heard of it, that major environmental threat of irreversible climate change which is occurring every second of ever day.  Carbon pollution is the top contributor to this disruption, causing increased temperatures, melting ice caps, rising sea levels, severe droughts, and harsh air pollution. Carbon emissions come from a wide range of sources across the globe, but traditionally, power plants have been the greatest culprits, emitting over 2.3 billion metric tons of carbon per year. Beyond power plants, food waste is another huge offender, producing 3.3 billion tons of carbon pollution per year. And sadly, according to the Food and Agriculture Organization, one third of the…

DIY: Easy Upgrades to Your Home

Enhancing your Furniture using LEDS

Many furniture items that are purchased at big box stores come pretty standard now, and don’t give off a lot of excitement, or really draw someone to it when it is all put together. Initially it’s just another room filler so you can place things on it, or work at. What if you could very easily add your own creative step in that assembly guide when putting together your newly purchased piece that could give off a little pazzaz and have your guest asking questions and complimenting how great that new center piece or end table is when they come…

Major Corporations Team-Up For LEDs

A new trend is taking hold in major cities with help from an unlikely source. It seems the grassroots “green movement” has finally made its way up the totem pole as large corporations finally begin teaming up to reduce energy consumption. Recently, Philips, a premium consumer goods company, announced a partnership with award winning, international non-profit, The Climate Group, whose main goal is to lower carbon emissions. Together, these two business juggernauts are launching a campaign called “LED”, which stands for ‘lower emissions delivered’. The campaign was officially launched in conjunction with Climate Week in New York City September 21st…
