If you are looking to take advantage of this quick, convenient service, there are just a few things you’ll need to know. You can read more the complete design process here, but for this segment of Inspired LED 101, we’re going to focus on the two most important steps for you as a customer: Step 1- Research, and Step 2- Submission. By getting these two steps off to the right start, you can help to ensure that your project is completed as quickly and efficiently as possible!

Step 1: Research
Before you can complete your design request, you will need to familiarize yourself a little bit with our products. The first thing our Designers will need to know is what COLOR LEDs you are interested in using. We offer three different colors of white, Warm (~3000K), Pure (~4200K), and Cool (~6000K), along with a few solid color and RGB color changing LEDs. Inspired LED’s three different colors of white are differentiated by their relative measurement on the Kelvin scale. Most people tend to think of warm white as an incandescent or “golden” color, and cool white as more of a fluorescent or “bluish white”. Pure white is our most neutral color, with the crisp, clean look of daylight.

Color Temp1

Once you have decided what color you would like for your application, you will want to be familiar with our different BRIGHTNESS levels. All of our different colors of LED flex are available in several different densities or levels of brightness. Depending on the type of location you are looking to light, our Design Team members will recommend a certain type of LED flex for you. Don’t worry, you will not need to make this decision on your own, but it will help for you to understand these options when speaking with your designer via email, or over the phone!

Brightness

The last piece of information you will want to research is your choice of POWER. Inspired LED products can be powered in one of two ways, both allow for complete dimmable control, but the method which you decide to use will help to determine the layout of your LED design. If you are looking to power your LEDs from a wall-outlet with a simple plug & play set-up, you will want to request a “Plug-in Power Supply”. If however you are planning to hire an electrician to tie your new LED system into an existing wall-switch, you will want to request a “Hardwired” system.

Step 2: Submission
Once you’ve done your research, and you have an idea of the type of LED system you want, you will be ready to move on to step two, the submission phase.

When you reach the design request form, you will be prompted to answer a few basic questions. If you’ve done all your research these should be a breeze! Be sure to include all your contact information, as well as any preliminary questions you may have for the Design Team. Lastly, you will be asked to attach a photograph or diagram of the area you are looking to light. It is very important that along with your image you include detailed measurements and the location of a power source. The more descriptive, and accurate, your attachment, the faster your design can be completed!

Bad DesignThese are some examples of improper design submissions. The photograph on the left makes it difficult to see the area we will be lighting, while the sketch on the right is incomplete. Neither has any specific measurements, nor has the location of the power source been marked. Without this information, our Designers have no way to give an accurate layout or quote, it will take extra time to find out what they need to know in order to complete these projects!

Good Design

By contrast, these are some outstanding examples of proper design submissions! The photograph on the right is a perfect wide-angle shot of the entire kitchen. If you have cabinet specifications (such as those on the left) these are also a fantastic tool for us to use! In both images, all measurements have been clearly labeled, and the power sources have been identified. With all this crucial information right at their fingertips, our Designers will have these layouts finished in no time!
