Is It Up To Code? Dimmable LED Systems

At Inspired LED, we’ve been in the business long enough to have learned a thing or two about building and electrical codes. And over the years, we’ve seen some of the many creative ways that people have attempted to cut corners, or “hack” their lighting systems, using everything from soldering irons to spare lamp cords… But before we get on to the big infractions, let’s start by reviewing the correct way to lay out a dimmable LED system. Conventional Installs: Up to Code Generally speaking, low voltage LEDs can be powered in one of two ways. The simplest set-ups utilize a low voltage plug-in power supply combined…

Flex into Fixtures: Taking LEDs to the Next Level

Flexible LED strips first came onto the market as energy efficient solution for accent lighting, particularly in kitchens. A low-profile design made them easy to hide away under cabinets, counter tops, or shelves, while the robust nature of the flex made the use of traditional lenses unnecessary in most applications. This meant reduced material costs which helped LED flex strips to become one of the most affordable lighting options available. For the past several years these so-called “bare flex” installations have grown in popularity, allowing the average consumer to achieve the look of high-end lighting for less. But as increased competition…

Inspired LED Sets the Stage: ASU Gammage

A Brief History- Home to performances great and small, from local concerts to touring Broadway shows, the iconic ASU Gammage theater has been a cornerstone of Phoenician culture for more than half a century. It began back in 1957 as the dream of then Arizona State University President, Grady Gammage, who commissioned his close friend and famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright to assist with the design. Together they envisioned a grand coliseum-like structure with two pedestrian bridges extending on either side to welcome visitors. It took years of planning and construction, but in 1964 the 3,000-seat theater opened its doors to a performance…
